Leadership Experience
Global Leadership Connection is an organization dedicated to putting youth leaders in a positive spotlight. The GLC Leadership Experience is an all expense paid trip for the top 2-6 leaders from each area program. While connecting these leaders from different GLC Programs, we encourage discussions on leadership development, social involvement and how to make our world a better, more positive environment.

2008 - GLC Leadership Experience - Washington DC
September 25-29, 2008

During this year’s GLC Leadership Experience, our group of 15 toured around the best of what our Nation’s Capitol has to offer. We began our trip with an opportunity to meet Senator Chuck Grassley, tour the Capitol Building, viewing both the House and Senate Chambers, tour The White House, and meet with OMB Director Jim Nussle.
We continued our tour to the National Museum of Natural History, the National Gallery of Art, the Holocaust Museum, several Monuments, and visit Arlington Cemetery, viewing the changing of the guard at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We also included the Vietnam Wall, the Korean War Memorial and the WWII Memorial. The students had an opportunity to tour the campus of Georgetown University. Nancy Winston, of Shared Hope International gave a presentation about ending sex trafficking throughout the world. Our last activity was to receive a tour of the CIA. All students flew in and out of Washington Reagan International Airport and stayed at the Madison – Loew’s Hotel.
Student Leaders Reflections:

“The Global Leadership Connection is a great program and I am so glad to be a part of it! The conference at USD left a lasting impact on me. The many inspirational speakers truly made me want to take a more proactive stance. Above all, the interaction with other students was of an immeasurable value. I have been to several leadership conferences over the past few years, but this one's quality significantly stood out. The interview process was rewarding as well, for I learned so much that I know will help me in the future. I really wanted to express my appreciation to you for providing this opportunity”

Raquel Saxe, La Jolla High School
“Being part of the global leadership connection was one of the most influential and rewarding experiences of my entire life. Our trip to our nation’s capitol was amazingly emotional and educational, and was an experience that will stay with me for my entire life. The quality of friends that I made on this trip is incredible, considering the fact that I have only known these students for four days. It is truly amazing what can happen when people with such great moral character and intellectual abilities come together for one unforgettable experience.”
